We are a non-profit organization which owns, operates, and maintains the Shirley Community Hall and Pioneer Park for the benefit of residents and visitors to the area. We acknowledge, honour and respect the First Nations on which our Hall was built and the park established: the T’Sou-ke Nation (Scia’new Nation – Coast Salish) and Pacheedaht Nation (Nuu-chah-nulth).
Our operations are financed through membership fees, event functions, hall rentals, lease rentals, and grants. General meetings are held every two months for members to plan events and to raise any concerns. Both residents and non-residents are welcome to join.
Shirley Day in August is our main annual affair, attracting about 300 people with local food and music, children’s events, and a slew of vendors and crafters. We also feature a Craft Fair in spring and fall, a neighbourhood Christmas event, and a Sunday market in the summer.
The Community Hall provides emergency shelter in case of disaster. The Shirley Volunteer Fire Department‘s team of highly skilled volunteers also serves our community in emergencies. The Fire Department is based in the building adjacent to the Hall.
